Just finished watching Bokurano 12 & 13. Finally! Like Trei said, lots of things were revealed in Maki's arc. I cried after her battle ended, when she got to hold her newborn baby brother. In her rocking chair. Most touching scene, hands down. I... don't know if I'm supposed to feel sad or happy.
And the ending song and animation changed! To say I like it better than the first is an understatement. I-I think it's BEAUTIFUL! ;; The children (+ Kokopelli) are holding hands &hearts, with the universe in the background!! And, most importantly, they look so happy while drifting and holding onto each other! Just. YES. This is what Bokurano is about, and the ED captured it perfectly! I love that the children being linked to one another symbolizes the same fate that they all share... Or maybe it's the other way around: it's that same fate that connects them to one another. Ugh, I can't choose the "better" interpretation, really; both sound so sad. D:
Anyway. It's especially nice to see Chizu and Kako, and then Ushiro and Kana holding hands (despite, uh, strains in their relationships). I wonder what's behind Komo, though? It's very pretty!
